                                          VIP WORKSHOP

Each workshop starts with a performance of the repertoire that the pupils will be working on.
This provides an exciting introduction to the music and more importantly allows tutors to 'model' the key elements that will become the main focus during the workshop.

Pupils are taught most of the repertoire aurally allowing them the freedom to concentrate on stylistic elements/inflections,dynamics, ensemble playing etc etc.
(As demonstrated in the introduction performance)
VIP have found this approach to be fully inclusive as all pupils are engaged from the outset and not restricted by their ability to read through conventional notation.

Pupils are also guided through a simple step by step process that breaks down the different stages of improvisation starting with rhythmic, moving to melodic.

As professional musicians that are also Secondary trained VIP are able to make crucial links to National Curriculum in all of the Key Stages.
